Hameed Saifi, aka Meedy is a New York born, Afghan DJ/Producer & Founder of DESCENDANTS, the fastest growing Afro-Electronic event & music label.
He transformed a live-stream project partnered with Insomniac Events & Audiomack showcasing African Electronic artists transformed into hosting 18+ African artists in New York and Amsterdam, most of whom never played in either city prior, and is now a flourishing global community.
Born to Afghan refugees shaped Meedy’s ethos & desire to create spaces for people of culture to experience his love for electronic music, especially after experiencing the lack of POC representation in both the artist and structural sides of electronic music. He has platformed mostly Black/African international and local artists, and hosts one of the most diverse audiences within all of Electronic Music globally.
Meedy is also the curator of the 4th largest Afro House Spotify Playlist, and Founder of ‘Moving House Forward’ which is an Afro House workshop and panel for ADE in Amsterdam.
Kenyan-born, Georgia-raised Saada Ahmed is the co-founder of Everyday People, an event series founded in New York City centering the community, music, activism, and wellness of those within the African Diaspora. Labeled “A Daytime Dance Party that Celebrates Black Diversity” (New York Times), Everyday People has grown into a cultural phenomenon through its hugely popular day parties spanning several NYC residencies and pop-ups in Los Angeles and Miami. Everyday People additionally produces special events in various domestic and international locations in partnership with local institutions and influencers.
Saada’s Somali-Ethiopian roots have always been central in the ethos of her work. Centralizing her own need to find spaces, she felt both represented and maintaining space for like-minded others. Her ingenuity is noticing the places where there is a clear gap and missed opportunities to speak to consumers positioned like herself and the communities left as an afterthought by companies centering traditional markets. Prior to launching Everyday People, Saada worked meticulously in the industries of fashion, music, and advertising. Past collaborations include HBO, BET, Essence, FX, NIKE, and the US Open.
